On Wednesday 30th February our two fourth classes attended the green-schools marine environment conference in the Galway Bay hotel in Salthill. We met pupils from other schools around the country that are also working towards getting their 8th green flag. They displayed amazing art work, presented poems and sang songs related to this theme. We learned about basking sharks swimming in the Atlantic, we listened to sounds of the sea and we heard whales, sharks, puffins, seagulls, seals and many more. At the very end of the conference we all made a pledge to be seakeepers. This means we will work towards learning about our marine life, how to keep our beaches clean and passing on our knowledge so that future generations can enjoy our beautiful marine environment.
