Our Green-Schools Action Day Feb 2020
On February 27th we held our Green-Schools Action Day. We had a Junior Assembly in the school hall for Infants- Second class. The children dressed up in blue or green for our marine themed assembly. Junior and Senior infants made sea creatures to bring along. First and second class decorated handprints with suggestions of ways to be good global citizens. The Green-Schools committee introduced themselves and spoke about the jobs they do in the school. Ms. Power talked about the sea turtle Mara that visited Galway during storm Lorenzo. Ms. McHugh and the committee performed a roll play about a trip to the beach and remembering to pick up litter afterwards. Third class sang a song called Turas scoile. It was all about an imaginary day in school when the teacher turned her class into sea creatures! Infants enjoyed dancing their sea creatures along to the song. After break, third and fourth classes did a marine themed art activity. They did a fantastic job. Fifth and sixth class have yet to do a street clean but we are waiting for better weather to do that! Here is a selection of photos of our Green-Schools Action Day 2020.
