6th Class Graduation Photos
On Friday the 19th of June we bid farewell to our wonderful Sixth Class of 19/20. It was a day of mixed emotions as many of the girls had not seen each other since the lockdown began in mid-March. Both Mr. Joyce, Ms. Anglim would not have wished to say goodbye in such circumstances, but everybody made the most of the restricted ceremony to wish each other well for the future. The class of 2020 was a particularly talented and resilient bunch who represented our school with pride and distinction during their eight years here. The staff of the Holy Trinity would like to wish them well in all their future endeavours of which we are sure there will be many. We would particularly like to thank them for their patience, cooperation, and positive attitude during these trying times. And finally, girls you must remember Mr. Woods annual saying, from now on and for the rest of your lives, you will always be Holy Trinity Girls.
Planet Youth - Stepping Up To Secondary School - Webinar 17th June 20.00
This event on the 17th June is publicly funded and free of any charge. It’s just a short webinar being put on for 6th class parents to assist them in supporting their children over the summer. Planet Youth itself is an innovative public project that is being run in counties Roscommon, Mayo and Galway. It’s based upon the Icelandic Primary Prevention model that has shown huge success in improving health and life outcomes for their young population. We commenced this project in 2018 here in Ireland and it’s being supported by the HSE, Tusla, our local County Councils and Education and Training Boards. You can find a bit more information at www.planetyouth.ie. |

6th Class Work during Covid 19 School Closure: Updated May 18th - 29th
Good Morning Girls,
I hope that we find you in good spirits. The announcement by the government that schools will not open has come as a disappointing blow to both Ms. Anglim and myself. The Covid-19 crisis has taken away our confirmation, our leavers' assembly, our school tour, and our graduation mass. We deeply regret not being able to spend the last few months of your primary school lives with you. However, I am sure you are all aware that we are winning the battle against the virus; social distancing has slowed the spread, so please keep complying with the government's advice and that of your parents. We will get a chance at some stage to say goodbye correctly. Our school will always be there, and you know that you are always welcome to drop in and say hello to us here in Holy Trinity. You may become many things in your life in the future, but wherever you go, for the rest of your lives, you will always be Holy Trinity Girls.
Here is some work for you children to tide you over for the coming fortnight. Stay Safe!
All books are free to access on cjfallon.ie.

Writing: A way With words week 5. Check the Think and Talk section then draft, edit and complete your own horror story for Week 1
Week 2: Write a letter to the government, suggesting ways that they can help vulnerable people in your area during the Covid-19 crisis. Perhaps have suggestions for problems you have witnessed.

Geography: This fortnight, we are looking at renewable energy. Please put together a few paragraphs about wind and wave power. Explain how both sources of energy work and draw some diagrams showing how the system work.
Country Focus: Please do a fact-file on the country of Russia, use the familiar topics that we use when putting together a fact file on a country, i.e., capital, leader, mountains, rivers, seas, famous people, landmarks, etc.
History: The war in Russia
"It is said that had Adolf Hitler listened to his history in school and heard about Napoleon failures, and he would never have tried to repeat them by invading Russia."
- Research information on the Second World War in Russia.
- Why did Hitler invade Russia?
- What does the word Lebensraum mean?
- What successes had he early on in the campaign?
- What happened at the Battle of Stalingrad?
- Do you think this was a decisive battle in the winning of World War II? Explain why.

He has a unique style that you can observe and try to recreate (dark reds, brilliant oranges, nighttime scenes mainly, normally rining, wet cobbles and Irish street scenes)
Science: In light of the Coronavirus, let us look at vaccinations and the study that helps find them. Research and write a brief paragraph all about the search for and finding of vaccination for the virus Smallpox.

For all the children who expected to celebrate their Confirmation in April, we have not forgotten you...
Hope all our 6th Class are healthy and happy. We all look forward to celebrating your confirmation together in the not too distant future. Perhaps you would like to say a prayer to The Holy Spirit in preparation for your Confirmation Day. Choose the one which means most to you.

Our Projects About The Celts
Our trip to Ballybane Library
In December, our class went to the Ballybane library. We walked there. When we reached the library, we saw lots of books and colouring pages. First I was reading a small book. After five minutes, I started colouring with my friends. Later we went to a small book corner and we sat on some chairs. There was a group of parents over there. First we did a small warm-up exercise. The parents group gave us a talk about being yourself. They did some shows. The first one was the flag dance. They also sang some songs like let it snow. We also learned sign language. There was a man named John who told us about his life as a traveller. He also told us about what his mom used to do. His mom made flowers with paper and sold them. So he showed us how to make the flowers and gave one each to everyone.
At the end we all got crisps and sweets. It was so much fun

Our September Nature Walk
Our Christmas Concert
Here we are performing at our Christmas Concert. We sang 3 songs - Count on Me (Bruno Mars), Somewhere only we Know (Lily Allen) and Snow is Falling (Shakin Stevens). We practised for 2 weeks and we were very happy with our performance.
